As the LITASA conference was held in Cape Town, BiblionefSA was there!

We displayed our fabulous multilingual books; attended sessions including a workshop on multilingual strategies and multi-modalities by Xolisa Guzula (our former Board member) and Marlene Rousseau (who runs our professional mentorship sessions on how books can promote children’s creative and high order thinking, writing, drawing – and of course, multilingualism!)

Overall there was great interaction and we were inspired! Dr Brain Ramadiro (Fort Hare University) gave a beautifully crafted and insightful keynote address on the continuing mismatch between our language policy, provisioning, pedagogy and children’s inventiveness and interests.

Everyone is talking about multilingualism and translanguaging. And, as it happens, this is Biblionef SA’s raison d’etre!  We sell and donate books in all of S.A’s official languages.
